Hijacking South African Hip Hop industry with his bold and unique voice, Wandisile Magoda who goes by the name Megawatt was born in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape on 27 July 1987 and grew up in Mthatha. In 2007, he moved to Durban to study towards National Diploma in Electrical Engineering at Mangosuthu University of Technology where he found his pseudonym from his fellow students.
In 2019, he decided to team up with one of Mthatha's underdog artist (Dirty Leeds) to work on a joint mixtape project which is scheduled to be released by 16 April 2020 on digital stores. A dedication song titled "Dear Mama ft. Lwethu" was a first single released in 2019 and "Came To The Party" ft. Megawatt is a second single from the joint mixtape released on the 28 January 2020. Currently, these songs are doing well on digital stores.
Weekend Vibes 2.0 was produced by Mac of 24Inchez, this is another smash hit from the mixtape. “This song is about looking forward to the weekend after dealing with all the stress during week days, my massage is to let my fans and listeners know that there is still a hope for some rest and popping bottles over the weekend and some time to hang out with their loved ones. There are some vast activities taking place on the weekend and all I am saying is, enjoy your weekend responsibly and make time for your very important people, it may be your family or your closed circle” Megawatt said.
